International scientific conference "Religion and society" was held at Mogilev State A.Kuleshov University
On April 24, 2026 the XX International scientific and practical conference "Religion and society" was held at Mogilev State A.Kuleshov University. This conference was organized by Mogilev Religious Studies Center, department of history and philosophy at Mogilev State A.Kuleshov University. The conference coordinators were represented by V.Starostenko, O.Dyachenko and E.Starostenko; secretary – V.Protasovskaya.
About 100 reports were presented at this conference, including researchers from Belarus, Russia, Azerbaijan, Slovakia, and Georgia. More than 30 scientists represented foreign countries. Belarusian participants traditionally present all regions of the Republic, the largest universities and specialized scientific establishments. Among the participants of this conference are both well-known and established scientists, as well as young researchers - graduate students, master students and students. Problematic field of the conference: freedom of conscience and state-confessional relations; history of religions and interfaith relations; Orthodoxy in the history and culture of Belarus and the world; Protestantism in Belarus: history and modernity; religion and culture, literary studies, linguistics; religion and education.
Alexander Rumak, head of the state administration for religious affairs of the Republic of Belarus, commissioner for religious affairs and nationalities, addressed the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech. He noted the importance of confessional sphere in the life of any country, including the Republic of Belarus, the importance of scientific developments for shaping state policy in the religious sphere in the interests of civil peace and social harmony.
Plenary session, which was held in face-to-face and online formats, featured reports by Russian and Belarusian scientists reflecting the diversity of modern religious studies and related to the round table " Place and role of world religions in the establishment of interethnic and interreligious harmony" held within the framework of this conference.
