Zhores Ivanovich Alferov - Soviet and Russian physicist and academic who contributed significantly to the creation of modern heterostructure physics and electronics. He shared the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics for the development of the semiconductor heterojunction for optoelectronics. He also became a politician in his later life, serving in the lower house of the Russian parliament, the State Duma, as a member of the communist party since 1995.
Pavel Lukyanovich Mariev - Minister on the Council of the Republic of Belarus. Mariev is also one of five people who have been presented with the title Hero of Belarus. Pavel has a doctorate in the field of technical sciences and is the general manager of the BelAZ plant, located in Zhodzina. Pavel has also been decorated with the title "Merited Worker of Industry of the Republic of Belarus."
