BSU and Cuba have identified new vectors of cooperation

We are talking about joint international and pharmaceutical activities and the conservation of biodiversity of the two countries. These issues were discussed with relevant Cuban institutions during a visit to Cuba from 17 to 22 April by a delegation of BSU headed by the Rector Andrei Karol.
During the meeting with the leadership of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, topical issues of the foreign policy of the two countries were discussed. The importance of exchanging existing experience in training specialists for the international sphere, developing cooperation in the field of joint production and training specialists in the fields of IT, biotechnology, etc. in demand today was noted.
The development, transfer and adaptation of technologies for the production of medicines for various purposes, joint research on the creation of new medical products were discussed during the visit of the BSU delegation to pharmaceutical companies in Cuba. The parties discussed the possibility of supplying innovative medicines to this country for the treatment of various pathologies, including local chemotherapy for brain, head, neck cancer and pharmaceutical substances for the production of antitumor and cardiotropic medicines.
In addition, the BSU delegation held a number of meetings with representatives of botanical gardens in the cities of Havana and Cienfuegos. The parties exchanged proposals on scientific cooperation in the field of biodiversity conservation. Great prospects are seen in conducting joint research on the systematics, ecophysiology and biochemistry of native and introduced plants. The possibility of exchanging collections of unique plants, herbarium and planting materials, taking into account national and international standards, was also discussed. In addition, there is a possibility of conducting joint expeditionary research, organizing scientific internships for employees of institutions and preparing joint publications in the field of biology, physiology and biotechnology of plants.
Recall that all the events were held as part of the official visit of the BSU delegation to Cuba from 17 to 22 April. The eventful program included negotiations with leading Cuban educational and scientific institutions, including the University of Havana, Enrique José Varona Pedagogical University, the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba. The visit resulted in a signed package of documents on educational and scientific cooperation with Cuban universities.
