IX International scientific conference "East Slavic languages and literatures in the European context"
On December 11-12, 2025 the IX International scientific conference "East Slavic languages and literatures in the European context" was held at Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University. This conference was attended by about 100 linguists and literary critics from 22 scientific and educational centers of the Republic of Belarus (National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belarusian State University, Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages, Maxim Tank Belarusian State Pedagogical University and so on), as well as foreign ones — The Russian Federation (Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, St. Petersburg State University, Dagestan State University, Tula State University), the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakh National Research Technical University, Kazakh National University "Narkhoz").
Natalia Makovskaya, vice-rector for science and research, doctor of economics, professor, and Evegeny Ivanov, head of the department of theoretical and applied linguistics, doctor of philology, professor, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech. Evegeny Ivanov was the first to open this plenary session.
The participants of this conference, as well as teachers, students, master students and postgraduates of the faculty of foreign languages and historico-philological faculty addressed the audience:
Mikhail Bredis — candidate of philological sciences, associate professor of the department of foreign languages of the Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (Moscow) addressed the audience with a report "The tradition of studying proverbs in Slavic, Germanic, Baltic and Turkic languages";
Olga Lidenkova, candidate of philology, associate professor of the department of theory and practice of English at the Francysk Skaryna Gomel State University addressed the audience with a report "Modern Historical prose of Belarus and Britain: general and specific";
Anton Lavitsky, candidate of philology, associate professor, head of the department of law and social sciences and humanities at the Vitebsk Branch of MITSO International University, delivered a report entitled "Linguistic expertise: the main problems and ways to solve them in Belarus and Russia."
The further work of this conference continued in the framework of breakout sessions, where all reports were heard and a lively discussion was held on topical issues of learning languages and literatures.
