BSU Lyceum Students Won Medals at the Al-Khwarizmi International Mathematics and Informatics Olympiad
Students of the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of BSU became prize-winners of the 3rd Al-Khwarizmi International Olympiad in Mathematics and Informatics. The Belarusian team performed in the discipline “Mathematics”. Christina Shutro and Arseni Dedkov were awarded gold. The silver medalist was Roman Pozharitsky. “Bronze” - for Lev Fomin. By the way, Kristina Shutro showed the best result of the intellectual competition among the girls. The head of the Belarusian team was a math teacher of the F.E. Dzerzhinsky Lyceum of BSU Alexandra Lukina.
The large-scale event was held from 7 to 13 May in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). In total, more than 200 schoolchildren from nine countries took part in the event. These were representatives of Belarus, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. As part of the competition, young mathematicians had to pass two rounds consisting of four tasks of different levels of complexity. Computer scientists were offered three tasks for two days, the solution of which was automatically evaluated by the information system.
The Olympiad has been organized since 2023 on the initiative of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The intellectual competition is aimed at supporting talented young people, creating an atmosphere of friendly competition between gifted schoolchildren, as well as stimulating their interest in the in-depth study of mathematics and computer science.
