The International Student Geography Olympiad «Terra incognita» will be held at BSU for the first time
The event is aimed at enhancing international cooperation in the field of geographical knowledge and creating a unified educational and information environment in the field of Earth sciences.
As noted by the Dean of the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of BSU Elena Kolmakova, the geography competition among students will be held in Belarus for the first time, although there is experience of such events in other areas. «We very much hope that the Olympiad will arouse the interest of young people, a large number of students will become its participants. Because the task of the contest is to determine not only the best, but to help everyone uate their strengths, acquire new acquaintances and connections, and also share their experience», the dean added.
Students and undergraduates of Belarusian and foreign universities studying in the geographical profile are invited to participate. To do this, you need to fill out the Google form by the link and attach a copy of the student ID card.
The Olympiad will be held in an online format on the Moodle platform. The competition will be organized in two rounds: 12 and 14 June. Each stage includes a test of 50 questions on physical geography, geoecology, earth science, meteorology, economic, social, political, recreational geography of the world, etc.
Access to the tasks will be open only at a specially designated time. The results of the Olympiad will be summed up in a personal competition according to the amount of points scored when completing tasks.
The results will be announced at the closing of the Olympiad on 16 June, which will be held at the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of BSU with an online connection.
All participants will receive certificates, and the winners will receive valuable prizes.
The organizers of the Olympiad are the Faculty of Geography and Geoinformatics of BSU, the Belarusian Geographical Society and the Kazakh National Geographic Society.
