Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University has joined the elite of BRICS universities
The BRICS rating was launched in 2024 with the aim of ranking universities in three key areas: educational, scientific and public. In comparison with the last year the number of assessed establishments has increased significantly due to the inclusion of nine participating countries. These countries have received the status of BRICS partners this year — Belarus, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda and Uzbekistan. As a result, 750 universities from 20 countries were reviewed in the current version of rating.
The methodology of the authoritative rating is based on 17 verifiable objective indicators for the years 2020–2024. Of these, 45% are allocated to “Education”, 25% —“Science” and 30% — “University and Society”. The main criteria includes students’ participation in international Olympiads, the proportion of international students, joint scientific publications with BRICS partners, global and national citations, information openness, website popularity, the number of subscribers on social networks and more.
The top three in the rating were Peking University, Lomonosov Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University. In addition to BSU, 16 Belarusian universities were also included in the second edition of the ranked system. Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University and VSTU occupy positions among the 601–750 groups.
