This topic became one of the key issues during the meeting of the rectors of universities Andrei Karol and Jia Zhenyuan.
Dalian University of Technology is a strategic partner of BSU, cooperation with which is developing within the framework of the agreement signed in 2007. At the moment, the global projects are the opening of joint institutes of DUT–BSU and BSU–DUT. The results of the work for the past academic year, the plan for the coming period and personnel issues were considered by the parties during the reporting joint meeting of the two institutes. The parties discussed the prospects of holding mirror summer schools on the basis of two universities and the opening of a new specialty «photonics» on the basis of DUT–BSU in the 2024/2025 academic year.
The visit to the DUT included the annual meeting of the Council of the Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology (RCIS) for 2022-2023. Among the achievements were the successful training of school teachers of the Chinese language, the opening of the master's degree program «Methods of teaching Chinese in educational institutions», active scientific, educational and methodological activities to ensure the study of the Chinese language in Belarus. It resulted in the publication of the monograph «Chinese in the educational space of Belarus», joint work with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on the academic Chinese-Belarusian dictionary, the publication of school textbooks and the collection «Confucius said: 100 sayings and thoughts of the great Teacher in Belarusian», etc. As Andrei Karol noted, the RCIS of BSU is a vivid example of a successful partnership between BSU and DUT, and in a broader context, cooperation between our countries in the field of education. Today, BSU has signed more than 80 cooperation agreements with 55 Chinese educational institutions, 72% of the total number of foreign students at BSU are Chinese citizens.
The program of the visit to the DUT also included a meeting of Andrei Karol with the leadership of the Center for the Study of Belarus. It was opened in 2019 on the basis of the named Chinese university in order to study Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the field of higher education, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. To strengthen the library fund, scientific and educational books published at BSU were transferred to the center.
In addition, within the framework of the visit of the Belarusian delegation to China, negotiations are planned with the leadership of Peking University and Qingdao University, the administration of Jiaozhou City County (Qingdao).
