Remember past for the future

12 May 2025

On the eve of the sacred date - the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War our people sacredly honor the memory of those who gave their lives, steadfastly and selflessly defending their land and upholding the independence of the Motherland. No matter how many decades pass, the memory of the feat of the victors and gratitude for the won freedom will forever remain in our hearts.

From May 5 to 7, 2025, an international team of students of the Faculty of Architecture of the Belarusian National Technical University, led by Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Cooperation N.V. Vishnyakov and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Drawing, Watercolor and Sculpture A.P. Shatilo, were engaged in the restoration of military burial site No. 4830 in the village of Zagvazdino, Dubrovensky District, Vitebsk oblast, and cleaning the adjacent territory. Students from the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan worked together with Belarusian students.

The location was not chosen by chance: Lieutenant Abdulla Khaismuratovich Gilyamov, grandfather of Abdulaziz Gulamov who worked as vice-rector of the Tashkent State Transport University is buried here.

Lieutenant Gilyamov died heroically on June 23, 1944, liberating Zagvazdino during the Belarusian offensive operation "Bagration".

"For Belarus, this Great Victory and preserving the memory of it are part of our national idea," emphasizes President A.G. Lukashenko. "The feat of the heroes will forever remain the greatest example of selfless love for the Motherland, an example on which children are raised continuing the traditions inherited from the valiant generation of victors."
