Festive program "New Year Without Borders"
5 January 2026
The disco hall of Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk hosted the festive "New Year Without Borders".
The event was organized by the Department of Ideological and Educational Affairs, the university's creative student’s union, and the student and volunteer centers.
Belarusian and international students at Polotsk University came together to celebrate the upcoming New Year holidays, continuing a long-standing tradition within their close-knit community. These events foster connections among young people, faculty, and university staff, while also giving students an opportunity to showcase their creative talents.
The festive program was opened by the hosts of the New Year's evening, Igor Strizhnev and Darya Mironenko. They welcomed the participants and guests of the concert, encouraging them to have fun, dance, and enjoy the treats at the festive table. The first musical gift was a performance by the creative studio "LUNA" – the girls performed a defile dance "Diamant".
First Vice-Rector Oksana Golubeva extended her welcome to the guests. She wished everyone success in their academic and creative pursuits for the new year, along with joyful holiday spirits and the realization of their most heartfelt wishes.
The celebration was attended by students who had most prominently distinguished themselves in the university's social life during the past year. Oksana Golubeva presented them with letters of appreciation bearing the signature of Rector Yury Ramanouski.
The program continued with a series of engaging performances. The vocal ensemble "Nastroenie" delivered the song "New Year", after which students from Turkmenistan presented a selection of their national dances. Chinese student Jian Yixuan contributed a lyrical piece performed in the Cantonese dialect. A notable highlight of the evening was the Turkmen dance "Kushtdepdi", which garnered significant appreciation from those in attendance.
University graduate Yosin Botirkhonov performed the upbeat song "Devochka". The musical segment continued with Kurbanmyrat Nazarguliyev's rendition of the popular song "Sinyaya Vechnost". The first part of the festive evening was concluded by Ekaterina Spasibenok and Darya Kukhta with the song "Zima Kholoda", accompanied by members of the contemporary dance studio "ToryDance".
A special moment of the celebration was the appearance of Ded Moroz and Snegurochka, portrayed by Nikita Baliuk and Natalia Kastruk. The fairy-tale characters congratulated everyone on the upcoming holidays and invited them to become active participants in the dance and game program. The evening's guests were then treated to a dance competition set to music from around the world, which commenced with a traditional round dance.
In the New Year quiz "New Year Celebration Traditions in Belarus", not a single question went unanswered – the international team of participants worked together cohesively and successfully. With enthusiasm, the international students decorated small fir trees and raced to assemble the phrase "Happy New Year"! The true outcome of the competition was a victory for friendship and camaraderie. To conclude the festive evening, Kakageldi Chashembaev performed a national song in the Turkmen language and invited everyone to join a spirited Lezginka dance and the concluding disco.
As a moment of the wonderful evening, the students received New Year souvenirs and took photographs with Ded Moroz and Snegurochka. The celebration left the students with vivid impressions and lasting memories.
