Strategic Cooperation in Education and Youth Policy Discussed During Visit of BSU Delegation to China
Rector of BSU Andrei Karol headed the representative office of the Belarusian university. The program of the visit included activities aimed at deepening partnership relations, promoting the educational and scientific potential of BSU, cultural and spiritual values of Belarus among Chinese youth.
Andrey Karol had a productive meeting with Zhao Xianfeng. Secretary of the CPC Yanshan University Committee. The sides discussed the implementation of joint training programs for Chinese citizens, agreed on a plan of cooperation within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May this year. They also reached an agreement to organize on the basis of Yanshan University jointly with the Institute of Innovative Education (Institute of Innovative Education, Sanya) a program of teaching Russian language to Chinese applicants for subsequent admission to BSU.
A significant event was the participation of the BSU delegation in the Belarusian-Chinese festival “Zroblenia v Belarusi” jointly organized with Peking University. The best dance and musical compositions from the cultural and folklore heritage of Belarus were presented to the Chinese youth.
Andrei Karol emphasized that President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had repeatedly stressed the importance of developing intercultural and youth dialogues between the countries as strategic partners. "Without understanding, knowledge of traditions, cultural roots of friendly nations, communication between young people of Belarus and China today it is very difficult to build economic, political, international bridges. That is why Belarusian culture is presented in Peking University so that its students can see our soul, get acquainted with the very valuable heritage of Belarus," summarized the Rector of BSU.
A meeting was also held with the leadership of International Relations Shandong University. The negotiations resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The sides agreed to intensify the establishment of cooperation, identified priority areas of interaction and agreed on a work plan.
Today China is one of the strategic partners for BSU. This is confirmed by the positive dynamics of increasing the number of agreements with this country over the past ten years. About 20% of the total number of all international agreements of BSU are concluded on the Chinese vector. In total there are more than 600 agreements with organizations from 57 countries. In recent years agreements were signed with Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and others. Cooperation is developing in various educational and scientific areas, including education of Chinese citizens at BSU, joint training of students with Peking University, joint institutes with Dalian Polytechnic University. Joint scientific research and conferences are organized, and collective articles are published.
