Pedagogical University students watched the broadcast of the plenary session of the Union State
BSPU, 7 September. The Dean of the History Department at BSPU S.P. Shuplyak, first- and second-year students, and curators of study groups took part in a large-scale event as they joined in the broadcast of the plenary session of the Union State forum “The Role of Youth in Preserving and Protecting Historical Memory”.
The event gathered key experts from Russia and Belarus on one platform. The participants got acquainted with the reports of prominent speakers, including the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation V.V. Volodin, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee A.L. Krasov, the Chairman of the Youth Chamber under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia A.K. Meshchaninov, the representative of the Youth Council under the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Y.A. Ostrozhitsky, a history teacher from the Vitebsk region I.V. Kvashko and others.
The theme of the exceptional importance of studying and preserving the memory of the feat of the Soviet soldier during the Great Patriotic War was told in all the speeches. The forum participants unanimously emphasized the need to protect historical truth and counter attempts to falsify history.
Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that working with young people, patriotic education and preserving historical memory are an absolute priority for youth organizations, educational institutions and state policy in both Russia and Belarus.
Participation in such a significant forum allowed students not only to better understand their role in preserving historical heritage, but also to realize their responsibility for protecting the truth about the great past of our people.
