22 December 2025

On December 19, the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Modern Political Science on the Development Trajectories of the State, Business, and Civil Society" was held at BSEU.

Welcoming remarks were addressed by BSEU Vice-Rector for Research Alexey Aleksandrovich Bykov, Head of the Department of Political Science and Sociology at Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Chairman of the Belarusian Society of Political Scientists Viktor Nikolaevich Vatyl, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at BSUPC Artem Vasilyevich Sviridov, and other speakers. The speakers noted the special significance of the conference, which brings together scholars from various fields and schools, creates a space for the exchange of ideas and strengthening the professional political science community, and plays an important role in the civic and patriotic education of young people.

The plenary session featured presentations on the development of civil society (by Vladimir Melnik, Professor of the Department of Social Policy and Ideology at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus); the phenomenon of the Belarusian model of democracy (by Viktor Vatyl, Head of the Department of Political Science and Sociology at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno and Chairman of the Belarusian Society of Political Scientists; and Alexander Markevich, Head of the Department of Public Administration at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus); and the prospects for the sovereignty of Belarusian political science (Artem Sviridov, Vice-Rector for Ideological and Educational Work at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture and Sport).

The conference continued with breakout sessions attended by faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates from BGEU, BSU, BSUFL, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Research Institute of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, and other educational and scientific institutions. A meeting of the Presidium of the Belarusian Society of Political Scientists was also held. Conference participants and guests noted the high organizational level of the event, which undoubtedly contributes to the development of a holistic vision of the future of Belarus and its role in the modern geopolitical space.

A meeting of the Presidium of the Belarusian Society of Political Scientists (BSPS) was held as part of the conference. The BSPS successfully completed the year, confirming the effectiveness of its activities in scientific, educational, and organizational spheres. During the meeting, reports on the organization's work and financial performance were presented, and key development areas for 2026 were identified. Vladislav Poprotsky, Chairman of the Student Council of the Belarusian Economic Forum (SEF), conducted an insider puzzle for students, "80 Steps to Victory," as part of the "Belaya Rus" grant project "80 Steps to Victory: From the Origins to the Present."

Particular attention was paid to the initiative of BGEU students and members of the BSPS, Alina Zaitseva and Violetta Yukhnevich, who proposed a work plan for the society's youth section. The idea received the support of the Presidium and was recognized as an important step in engaging young researchers in scientific and educational activities. The society's chairman, Viktor Nikolaevich Vatyl, noted that the work in 2025 was successfully completed, and the creation of the youth section will mark a new stage in the organization's development.
