Visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan
On April 23, Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk received a visit from Nazarkuly Shakulyevich Shakulyev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus. The university welcomed the delegation from the Turkmenistan Embassy with traditional songs and dances from both countries.
The Turkmen students welcomed the guests, served them some traditional dishes, and showed off their awards from various creative and sports competitions.
Yuri Ramanouski, the Rector of Polotsk University addressed the visitors: "Dear Nazarkuly Shakulyevich, I am pleased to warmly welcome you and your colleagues to our university. Hosting you here is a great honor for us.
Currently, 1,021 students are studying at Polotsk State University, pursuing 25 different specializations. Of these, 978 live in university dormitories. We provide conditions not only for academic success but also for sports, creative activities, and student work teams. Our goal is not just to train highly qualified professionals but also to raise responsible citizens and patriots of their home countries. Our educational approach is rooted in preserving and promoting the traditional values shared by the peoples of Turkmenistan and Belarus, as well as fostering love for one's homeland.
We are proud of the achievements of our Turkmen students. The student environmental team 'Vershina' named after Hero of the Soviet Union Oraz Annaev is the best among all teams made up of international students. Our creative groups, including joint teams, have won awards in various competitions, and today they brilliantly showcased their talents.
I am confident that with your support, we will continue to produce excellent specialists and help raise true patriots of your country".
In 2026, Turkmenistan will mark an important milestone – the 35th anniversary of its independence. This period has seen profound transformation: strengthening statehood, forging national identity, and steadily establishing the country as a reliable partner on the international stage.
During his meeting with Turkmen students at Polotsk University, Ambassador Nazarkuly Shakulyev emphasized the significance of the 2026 motto: "Independent, Neutral Turkmenistan — the homeland of purposeful winged horses." A key moment of the visit was the presentation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's book "Neutrality of Turkmenistan – The Bright Path of Peace and Trust". The ambassador described the work as a strategic guide for international dialogue based on prioritizing trust over the use of force in resolving issues.
After the official part of the visit, the delegation explored the historical and cultural heritage of the Polotsk region. They toured the Museum of History and Culture in Novopolotsk, as well as one of Belarus’s most important historical landmarks – the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk. An organ concert and an introduction to the centuries-old spiritual and architectural heritage of Polotsk allowed the guests to fully experience the roots of Belarusian culture.
The visit of the Turkmenistan Embassy delegation to the Republic of Belarus marked a significant step toward strengthening international ties and expanding educational cooperation between the two countries.
