Visit of the delegation from Belarusian universities to Turkmenistan
From May 21 to 28, a delegation of leading Belarusian universities visited Turkmenistan to strengthen educational and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation comprised representatives of Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk – Olga Zhuravskaya, Head of the International Office, and Alexey Radyuk, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities.
During the visit, the delegation went to the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ashgabat, where they held a meeting with Stanislav Chepurny, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkmenistan. The discussions focused on the prospects of Belarusian-Turkmen cooperation and support for Belarusian educational initiatives in Turkmenistan
One of the central events of the visit was a trip to the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During discussions with the institute’s Rector, Gulshat Yusupova, special attention was paid to opportunities for implementing academic exchange programmes, the “Visiting Professor” initiative, participation in international research conferences, and joint publications. Following the negotiations, a meeting was held with the institute’s students and faculty, where representatives of Polotsk University shared insights into the distinctive features of the educational process at their institution and the traditions of education in the historic Polotsk region.
In Ashgabat, interviews were conducted for Turkmen applicants wishing to enroll at Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk. During the interviews, prospective students received first-hand information about educational programmes, admission requirements, and student life in Belarus.
The results of the visit were summarized during a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, where both sides highlighted the strong potential for further Belarusian-Turkmen cooperation in higher education.
The delegation’s visit marked an important step in strengthening ties between Belarus and Turkmenistan, opening new opportunities for joint educational initiatives while also enhancing Polotsk University’s international visibility.
