In 1984 for the large merits in training of medical specialists for practical health care in USSR and for foreign countries, Vitebsk State Medical Institute was awarded the Order of Peoples’ Friendship. The degrees awarded on graduation from VSMU are recognized by World Health Organization (WHO), Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG, Philadelphia, USA), Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS, Dallas, USA), Lithuanian Center for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the Republic of Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Medical Councils of India, Republic of Maldives, Ireland etc. VSMU became the only university in the Republic of Belarus included in the general release of the international rating Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2019 having taken 301+ position.
