Belarusian-Chinese media center was opened in BSU

The ceremony took place 5 November with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization of Education Konstantin Kozadaev, the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Olga Samusevich, the founder of the Yaotian Educational Center (PRC) Wang Yaotian, employees and students of the university.

The activity of the department will be aimed at the formation of practical skills among students- journalists and the popularization of BSU among Chinese applicants. Taking into account the training of personnel for various types of media, the center is structurally divided into departments: network TV, social media and technical. Seminars, practical classes on video editing, photo materials processing, preparation of journalistic and PR texts will be held here. The center is equipped with modern equipment, computers for video editing and layout of publications, an interactive panel, a projector, a TV and other equipment. Educational projects with the participation of leading scientists and practitioners of the two countries will be implemented in the same audience.

It is assumed that the center will become a practical platform for students to create media products for student media. Chinese students are already shooting videos and preparing texts about studying at BSU and life in Belarus for Instagram, WeChat, TikTok. They interview teachers, their friends, take pictures of the iconic sights of Belarus.

One of the goals of the center's work will be to establish joint work of Belarusian and Chinese students in the field of journalism. The students will prepare author's materials for the faculty newspaper «ZhurFakty», help with the translation of materials into Belarusian, Russian and Chinese. For a month and a half of the pilot version of the center, over 80 materials were published on social networks, the number of public pages subscribers approached 1,500.

The opening of the Chinese-Belarusian media center was made possible thanks to the Yaotian Educational Center (PRC) and its founder Wang Yaotian, who has been cooperating with BSU since 2012. With his participation, the information and educational center of BSU in China (Beijing), the center for pre-university education of BSU (Sanya), the Information Center for foreign students at the Faculty of International Relations was opened, an agreement was signed on the allocation of grants to Chinese students for high academic performance and scientific activity.

Today, 2,177 Chinese citizens are studying at BSU, of which over 1,300 people are at the first stage of higher education.
