Belarusian School of Dulcimer (Cymbaly) Playing Represented at International Festival in Harbin

From July 30 to August 2, Harbin, China, is hosting the 6th International Yangqin Art Festival—a celebration of the traditional Chinese stringed percussion instrument closely related to the dulcimer (cymbaly).

The Belarusian State Academy of Music is represented at the forum by Associate Professor Veranika Praded, PhD in Art History, Head of the Department of Stringed Folk Instruments.

On July 30, the grand opening ceremony of the festival took place at the Harbin Concert Hall, where Ms. Praded addressed the participants and guests. Her presentation sparked keen interest among the audience, which gathered leading yangqin performers, educators, and representatives of the music community from various countries 

During her visit, the Belarusian specialist will attend competition auditions held at the Harbin Conservatory of Music.

The participation of the representative of the Belarusian State Academy of Music in this prestigious international festival promotes professional dialogue and strengthens the standing of the Belarusian school of dulcimer (cymbaly) playing on the global music stage.
