BNTU expands cooperation ties with Zimbabwe

From April 23 to April 27, 2024, a business visit was made by the delegation of the Belarusian National Technical University consisting of Sergei Anatolyevich Borisevich, leading specialist of the Faculty of International Cooperation of BNTU, and Veronika Ivanovna Lyutarevich, Deputy Head of the Department of International Marketing of Educational Services and Work with Foreign Students of the Faculty of International cooperation of BNTU. The delegation went to Bulawayo (Republic of Zimbabwe) to participate in the largest multi-industry exhibition event in the South African region “Zimbabwe International Trade Fair”.

During the business visit Borisevich S.A. and Lyutarevich V.I. visited the leading National University of Science & Technology of the Republic of Zimbabwe. During the meeting with representatives of the leadership of the named university, the parties outlined the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the implementation of joint educational programs according to the 2+2 scheme, the organization of inter-university exchange of students, undergraduates and teaching staff, the work of summer schools, as well as the implementation of joint scientific projects.

An important element of the program was negotiations with the leadership of educational institutions Bulawayo Polytechnic and Zimbabwe School of Mines, during which opportunities for cooperation were discussed in the following areas: the creation of joint educational programs according to the 3+2 scheme in a number of specialties, the organization of internships for teachers and summer schools. Following the negotiations, the parties tentatively agreed to sign cooperation agreements.

In order to study the existing experience of innovative activities, as part of the visit of the BNTU delegation to the educational institution Zimbabwe School of Mines (a college with a focus on mining), an excursion was organized to the metallurgical and analytical center of this institution.

On April 27, 2024, the official opening of the international exhibition “Zimbabwe International Trade Fair” took place and saw the Presidents of the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Republic of Kenya taking part.

During the exhibition in the educational pavilion “Scholastica”, the educational and scientific potential of BNTU was presented, consultations were held with interested parents and applicants, contacts were established with educational institutions in order to further expand international cooperation, and BNTU’s readiness to enter into agreements with recruiting companies for the organization of further cooperation in the field of attracting Zimbabwean citizens to study at BNTU.

As a result of this visit to the Republic of Zimbabwe, agreements were reached to sign a cooperation agreement with 4 educational institutions in the designated areas, as well as cooperation agreements with 3 Zimbabwean recruiting companies. As part of the international exhibition, BNTU representatives took an active part in organized thematic events and business meetings with foreign partners.

The participation of the BNTU delegation in the international exhibition “Zimbabwe International Trade Fair” contributed to increasing the image and attractiveness of BNTU educational services in the Republic of Zimbabwe, contributed to promoting the BNTU brand, developing inter-university cooperation and attracting Zimbabwean citizens to study at BNTU.
