BSEU signed a Cooperation Agreement with Sichuan University of Foreign Studies
On October 12, BSEU was visited by a delegation from Sichuan University of Foreign Studies (Chongqing, China).
Let us recall that in June 2023, an official visit of representatives of BSEU led by Rector Alexei Egorov to the PRC took place. During the visit, the university delegation visited a number of higher education institutions in China, including Sichuan Foreign Studies University. It is worth noting that this is the only university in southwest China that specializes in the study of foreign languages. Particular attention is paid to the study of Russian, since the university was originally established as the Russian Language School of the Southwest Military University of the People's Liberation Army of China in 1950. Thus, the negotiations held at BSEU can be considered an official return visit of representatives of the Chinese side.
The PRC delegation included the first vice-rector of the Sichuan University of Foreign Studies Zhu Chaowei, the dean of the Faculty of Russian Language Studies Xu Menglin, the director of the Russian Language Center and the Center for Belarus Studies Yang Jun, the teacher of the Russian Language Center and translator Fu Jing, the dean of the Faculty of International Law and Sociology Lin Yigang , as well as Olga Zelkowska, a representative of the Chinese company Valosha Ltd., representing the interests of BSEU in Chongqing.
During the negotiations, BSEU was represented by Rector Alexei Egorov, First Vice-Rector Tatyana Sadovskaya, Vice-Rector for Academic Activities Olga Morozevich, Dean of the Faculty of Law Alexander Shklyarevsky, Dean of the Faculty of International Business Communications Yulia Shavruk, Director of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Education Danila Dobrorodni , as well as the head of the department of economic sociology and psychology of entrepreneurial activity, head of the Center for Social and Humanitarian Research of BSEU Irina Lashuk.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed in detail the mechanism for further cooperation, study opportunities for students from China at BSEU (and vice versa). The areas of most interest to the Chinese side are jurisprudence, sociology and psychology, and business communications. “We are close in our goals: the people of Belarus and China can enrich each other’s culture. I am glad that we understand each other without words, and it is especially important that we are reaching a new level of rapprochement in the field of the humanities,” said BSEU Rector Alexei Egorov.
As a result of the negotiations, a Cooperation Agreement between the two universities was signed in a solemn atmosphere. The parties exchanged souvenirs and got acquainted with the exhibition of the BSEU library.
Representatives of the Sichuan University of Foreign Studies, who traveled a long way from the largest city in China to Minsk, thanked the Belarusian side for the warm welcome and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
