The delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Belarus visited BSU on 17 January. The meeting of the Rector of BSU Andrei Karol with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus Yerlan Baizhanov took place. The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization of Education of BSU Konstantin Kozadaev, the Head of the Department of International Relations Alexander Zhuk, First and Second secretaries of the Embassy Manar Usenova and Samat Asan, respectively, also participated in the negotiations.

The visit to BSU was conditioned by the urgency of strengthening and defining new forms of interaction in the field of education. In particular, the parties discussed the possibility of opening a branch of BSU in Kazakhstan, the participation of Belarusian historians in the study of the legacy of the Golden Horde and the holding of a forum of rectors of Belarus and Kazakhstan. The issue of establishing cooperation in the field of youth policy was also raised. In addition, the guests were introduced to the structure, educational and scientific potential, and competitive advantages of the Belarusian university.

In the near future, the parties will work out the announced initiatives to identify specific areas of cooperation.

It should be noted that at the moment BSU cooperates with institutions of Kazakhstan within the framework of 20 agreements. Among the partner universities are L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (Astana), M.Kh. Dulaty Taraz Regional University (Taraz), Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Almaty), etc. Today, 35 citizens of Kazakhstan study at BSU. Also, within the framework of the «Program of scientific research at the Kazakhstan Materials Science Tokamak for 2021-2023», the Institute for Nuclear Problems of BSU carried out the project «Development of a scintillation pulse multifunctional counter of gamma quanta /neutrons of a new generation, production of a prototype and testing it on a certified stand».
