The Zimbabwean delegation continues to learn from the experience of Belarusian rescuers

22 July 2026

As part of an official visit, a delegation from the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works of the Republic of Zimbabwe, led by Minister Daniel Garve, toured the branch of the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training, the Testing Center of the Research Institute for Fire Safety and Emergencies of the University of Civil Defense of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the Belarusian company POZHSNAB.

The eventful program began with a visit to the Testing Center of the Research Institute for Fire Safety and Emergencies of the University of Civil Defense. The guests were introduced to the center's activities, noting that over a thousand comprehensive tests and scientific research are conducted annually there, covering the entire fire safety cycle—from the effectiveness of fire extinguishing equipment and the reliability of rescuer protection to innovative engineering systems and building structures.

Of particular interest were the complete sets of protective clothing and equipment designed for extinguishing fires and responding to natural and man-made emergencies, as well as the protective gear for everyday use, developed by the institute's specialists. It was emphasized that all the protective equipment on display meets the highest international safety standards.

For reference: The complete protective clothing set includes a protective helmet, hand protection, special protective footwear, and firefighter's combat clothing.

The delegation then toured the training infrastructure of the Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training. The guests were shown a specialized training ground, state-of-the-art classrooms, and a variety of technical equipment actively used in the training of highly qualified firefighters. Particular attention was paid to practice-oriented training and the implementation of modern methods, ensuring the graduation of specialists prepared for the most challenging challenges.

For reference: The Institute for Retraining and Advanced Training of the University of Civil Defense offers over 300 training programs.

The visit concluded with a visit to the POZHSNAB enterprise. Guests were given a tour of the facility, where they were introduced to its production lines and the modern materials used to create wear- and corrosion-resistant components of fire-fighting equipment. The delegation was treated to an exhibition of specialized equipment manufactured by the company, as well as a demonstration of technologies used in the production of fire trucks and aerial ladders.

The guests highly praised the company's modern specialized equipment and expressed hope for productive cooperation in this area.

For reference: POZHSNAB LLC manufactures fire trucks, high-altitude fire and rescue equipment, and fire trucks based on MAZ chassis. The company's fire and emergency rescue equipment was developed in close collaboration with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus, including within the framework of state scientific and technical programs. It has passed all required testing and has a proven track record of repeated combat use in emergency response situations.

The Zimbabwean delegation's visit to Belarus marked an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation and exchanging experience in security and emergency response.
