Michel Alam received a postgraduate diploma
26 October 2023
On October 25, a ceremonial presentation of a research diploma to a graduate of the university’s graduate school, MICHEL ALAM, took place.
Based on the results of the meeting of the state certification commission on the development of the postgraduate educational program, Michel Alam was awarded the qualification “Researcher” in the specialty 06.03.01 - “Forest crops, selection, seed production in the field of agricultural sciences.” Scientific supervisor – Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Valerievich Nosnikov.
Michel Alam came to Belarus after completing his master's degree at the University of St. Joseph (Beirut, Lebanon). He received higher education and a master's degree in Agronomy. Currently, restoring Lebanon's forest is one of the region's most important goals, but opportunities for pursuing advanced degrees in forestry in the country are limited. Therefore, Michel decided in 2019 to continue his education in graduate school at the Belarusian State Technological University at the Department of Forest Crops and Soil Science, which trains highly qualified personnel in the specialty 06.03.01 Forest crops, selection, seed production. Michel chose the development of a set of agro-technical techniques aimed at increasing the survival rate and quality of growth of artificial plantings created in conditions of moisture deficiency for his research paper. During the training period, he conducted a series of laboratory and field experiments in Lebanon and the Republic of Belarus, in which he studied methods for increasing the water-holding capacity of soils and their effect on the survival rate and growth of pine forest crops on various soil types.
We wish Michel Alam further fruitful scientific activity, new achievements, inexhaustible energy and successful defense of his Ph.D. research!
