9th open interuniversity creativity festival of friendship

Belarus is the home of many peoples of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Sukhoi State University of Gomel for the ninth time warmly welcomed foreign students from different universities of Belarus and took on the role of a unification center through music, songs and dances, and acted as a center of friendship and optimism as well.

This year our university hosted a traditional event for us - the interuniversity creative festival of friendship. Among the participants were students from ten countries studying at six institutions of higher education of the Republic of Belarus. Among them are the Belarusian State Medical University, Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov, Sukhoi State University of Gomel, Belarusian State University of Transport, Francis Skaryna Gomel State University and Gomel State Medical University.

The festival, which is eagerly awaited at the Polytechnic University, is a symbol of peace and interethnic friendship on Belarusian soil, the unity of nations and nationalities, their spiritual wealth and creative potential. This is a unique opportunity to observe the true talents of representatives of different nationalities who live, study and work in our country.

While waiting for the start of the significant event, guests and participants of the holiday could get acquainted with the exhibition of items of national cultures, which unfolded in the hall of the cultural and sports complex, and become imbued with the styles of different peoples of the world.

The rector of the university, Artur Vladimirovich Putyato, addressed the festival participants and its spectators with a welcoming speech: “I am glad to welcome all the teams in the hospitable Polytechnic University! Today, when the best of the best gathered on stage, for the happy opportunity to meet and communicate with talented people. From year to year, foreign students from different countries who appear on the university stage as part of the festival surprise audiences with their vocal, theatrical and choreographic abilities and prove their exclusivity. I’m sure this year will be no exception and an unforgettable show awaits everyone gathered in this hall!”

For several hours, foreign students proved that the rector was not mistaken and surprised the audience with their high level of skill, creating a spectacular performance. Children from different regions of the country gave their best to talk about their cultures through amateur performances.

Playing the saxophone, guitar, piano gijak and clarinet, performing songs in different languages, giving way to colorful choreographic compositions, sometimes free-spirited, sometimes fiery-sparkling, but always eternal in their beauty and originality - all this made an unforgettable impression on the guests of the festival and spectators who supported all the speakers with thunderous applause. National colorful costumes of Azerbaijan, India, Turkmenistan, China and Sri Lanka, bright emotions and expression of each performance created the holiday atmosphere.

At the end of the performances of all teams, a concert program unfolded on stage with the participation of Belarusian students of the Sukhoi State University of Gomel and students of the Belarusian State Medical University.

The finale of the friendship festival was the solemn ceremony of awarding participants with diplomas for victories in various nominations and prizes. Presenting the teams with well-deserved gifts, Vice-Rector for Educational Work Alexander Valerievich Shapovalov thanked everyone for the celebration of creativity and talent: “A truly unique festival, which united the participants with an ardent desire to share the treasures of national art, again and again to touch its most intimate sources, turned out to be bright and unforgettable and brought us all a lot of positive emotions. Thanks to each of the teams that contributed to this!”
