Concert of the Youth Belarusian and Russian Symphony Orchestra
On November 25, 2025, the Belarusian State Philharmonic hosted a concert by the Youth Belarusian and Russian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by People's Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation Yuri Bashmet.
The orchestra members were welcomed by Dmitry Shlyakhtin, First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, and Anatoly Markevich, Head of the Minsk Representative Office of the Standing Committee of the Union State.
The concert program included one of the most famous symphonies of the world classics – Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony. A special highlight of the evening was the first performance in Belarus of the musical and poetic work “Requiem. Eternal Glory to the Heroes”, based on the poem of the same name by Robert Rozhdestvensky, set to music by contemporary Russian composer Kuzma Bodrov.
The Student Choir of the Belarusian State Academy of Music (artistic director and conductor Inessa Bodyako) performed the Requiem, with the recitation performed by renowned theater and film actor and People's Artist of the Russian Federation Sergei Garmash.
The concert in Minsk was part of a joint choir's program of performances in Moscow and the Belarusian capital, marking two significant dates: the 185th anniversary of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's birth and the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
