Intercultural Interaction in the Global World. A Youth View
Minsk 10 December, Minsk State Linguistic University in cooperation with Kostroma State University held an International Student Conference on the topic "Intercultural Interaction in the Global World. A Youth View".
The event brought together students and teachers of the two universities, who discussed current issues of education in modern society.
The Deputy Head of the Partizansky District Administration Lyudmila Anatolyevna Filippovich addressed the participants with a welcoming speech from the Belarusian side. In the first part of the conference, leading scientists in the field of pedagogy and psychology held a fruitful discussion on the need to form traditional spiritual and moral values in students, which is becoming a particularly urgent task in the context of globalization and current political and social processes. Professor of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology Natalia Petrovna Baranova drew attention to the fact that a foreign language as an academic discipline should introduce students to the culture of a given language, but not ignore the ability to represent their own culture. To educate a person who is open to other nations, but does not forget about the originality of his own, is the priority area of joint work of higher education institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation.
In the second part of the conference, the floor was given to the student union of the universities participating in the event. The moderator was the head of the department for ideological and educational work Olga Sergeyevna Rybchinskaya. The Russian side noted the project of the tour guides of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture "Let's go!", which is an excellent example of presenting the culture and history of their country in a foreign language. One of the bright speeches was the presentation of the leaders of the student associations of KSU patriotic club "Heart with Russia", which shows how young people can unite to achieve common goals.
At the end of the meeting, Vice-Rector for ideological and educational work Kuryan Dmitry Alexandrovich, the conference became a platform for the exchange of experience and ideas related to the education of citizenship, patriotism and cultural dialogue. The teachers of MSLU and Kostroma University presented a number of interesting reports covering important aspects of educational work. They discussed the implementation of the idea of dialogue of cultures in language education of the Republic of Belarus, the role of the culture of peace in the development of personality and the relationship of youth policy in the educational environment of the university.
