Honorary graduates from among the representatives of the diplomatic corps of Belarus visited BSU

The reception was held today, 31 July. The honorary guests of the festive reception were graduates of the Faculties of International Relations (FIR), Law and History. Among them are the ambassadors of the Republic of Belarus to Cuba Valery Baranovsky, Israel - Evgeny Vorobyov, Brazil - Sergey Lukashevich, Sweden and Norway concurrently - Dmitry Mironchik, Pakistan - Andrey Metelitsa, Syria - Yuri Sluka, Armenia - Alexander Konyuk, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar - Vladimir Borovikov. The event was also attended by the deans of the FIR Elena Dostanko and the Faculty of Law Andrey Shidlovsky, ex-Dean of the FIR 1995-2008, Professor of the Department of International Relations Alexander Sharapo.
As the Rector of BSU Andrei Karol noted, the current meeting was planned back in the jubilee year for the university in 2021, when the flagship of Belarusian higher education celebrated its 100th anniversary. Due to the epidemiological situation, a number of events were postponed to another period. One of them was honoring the current ambassadors of Belarus. In his welcoming speech, the rector thanked the heads of the Belarusian diplomatic corps for their high professionalism in carrying out their work and glorifying our country and BSU abroad. As a sign of appreciation for his personal contribution to the strengthening of partnerships, the development of cooperation with the university, he presented the badge «100 years of BSU». This award was established in 2021 on the occasion of the centennial anniversary of the university. It has become a form of encouragement for teachers, scientists, managers, employees, students and graduates of the university, whose merits are recognized not only in Belarus, but also abroad. The badge is also awarded to representatives of various ministries and departments for strengthening partnerships, developing cooperation with BSU.
Alexander Sharapo addressed his former students. He noted the exceptional importance and honor of the diplomat's mission in the modern world. The professor also expressed pride in the graduates of BSU, who today defend the interests of our country in the international arena and develop economic diplomacy.
Graduates of the FIR, including Sergey Lukashevich, Dmitry Mironchik and others, thanked all their teachers and mentors of BSU for their knowledge and professional experience. Today, this allows them to efficiently fulfill their diplomatic duties in the field of international activity of Belarus.
