Belarus is a unique country. It is a living room, a home for many nationalities. We value diversity, multinationality and multiculturalism. The goal of our university, as well as the entire Republic of Belarus, is to make sure that students feel at home.

This academic year, students from ten countries have joined the ranks of students of the Gomel State Technical University. They came from: The Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Burundi, Kazakhstan, China, Nigeria, the Russian Federation, Sierra Leone, the Union of the Comoros, the Kingdom of Morocco, and Sri Lanka. The teachers and staff of the Polytechnic University do everything possible to ensure that these students, when leaving home, take a “piece” of Belarus in their hearts.

On November 21, our university held a traditional event to initiate foreign freshmen into students titled, “Welcome to Polytechnic University - 2024”.

Everyone felt the atmosphere of friendship and fun. To ensure complete mutual understanding between the parties, interpreters were present at the meeting and with their assistance the information was in three languages: Russian, English and Arabic.

Representatives of the deans' offices and the university administration addressed the students with congratulations and words of encouragement, warmly welcoming the guests and telling them about the unique culture of the university and its traditions.

"We are very glad to see each of you in our university. You have become part of one very friendly and large family of students and graduates of our university. There are already more than 40 thousand of graduates. From this moment on, you represent the honor and name of the Polytechnic University. Remember: all as one. Let me wish you excellent studies and good, constructive knowledge, which will definitely be useful in the future. Let each new day spent in the university be full of discoveries, bright emotions and memorable events," the deans and deputy deans addressed the students.

The newly promoted Polytechnicians received many wishes and advice on how they could realize their potential within the walls of the university.

The head of the International Relations Department, Natalya Leonidovna Zhuravskaya, thanked the students for coming to get an education at the Polytechnic and for continuing to please the teaching staff with their successes and activity. “I hope that the knowledge you have gained will help you in your future life,” Natalya Leonidovna summed up.

On their behalf, students promised to gain knowledge without sparing their efforts; to be honest, hardworking and disciplined; to proudly bear the title of student with honor; to actively participate in the social, scientific and cultural life of the university.

All participants of the event received memorable gifts with the university emblem from the university management, which will become a symbol of their new beginning and in the future will serve as a reminder of student life - the most joyful and carefree time.

The meeting ended with the performance of the student anthem "Gaudeamus".

This day became a symbol of the fact that Polytechnic is a place where cultures intersect, people find connections and they start walking a path to a great future.

We are sure that now new students are ready to conquer the heights of knowledge and leave their names in the history of our university!
