Proposals for cooperation with Brazil were discussed at BSU. They were announced during the visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil to Belarus, Bernard Jörg Leopold de Garcia Klingl. The meeting was held with the participation of the First Vice-Rector of BSU Dzmitry Kurlovich, the Dean of the Faculty of International Relations (FIR) Elena Dostanko and the Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations Vladimir Galynsky.
The visit of the distinguished guest of the Belarusian university is due to the intention to develop partnerships in the field of education and science. The key topic of the discussion was the prospect of cooperation with one of the leading universities in Brazil – the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Cooperation in the field of academic mobility, exchange of experience in the study of applied IT technologies in the field of medicine, development of international relations and economics were named as priority areas. Special attention was also paid to the issues of professional and language training of students and teachers.
The culmination of the meeting was the Ambassador's announcement about the allocation of scholarships to study at the Summer School of UFMG for two BSU students for their invaluable contribution to maintaining the partnership between the two countries and their interest in spreading Brazilian culture. «Initially, the offer to study at our university was open to students of all Belarusian universities. However, I insisted on BSU, as I wanted to express my gratitude to the students for their productive work. Moreover, we plan to make this program for students of the main university of Belarus an annual one. The effort is rewarded», the Ambassador noted.
In the near future, the parties plan to hold a joint videoconference, where they will work out the voiced proposals in detail with a view to their further implementation.
