Kazakhstani PhD Researcher Joins BSTU for Specialized Internship

16 February 2026

MINSK – Strengthening international academic ties, Shokhan Nurseitov, a PhD researcher from Auezov South Kazakhstan State University, has commenced a high-level research internship at Belarusian State Technological University (BSTU).

Hosted by the Department of Logging Machinery, Forest Roads, and Timber Production Technology, the internship (which began on January 12, 2026) serves as a bridge for advanced engineering knowledge between Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Tackling Global Engineering Challenges

The core of Nurseitov’s research focuses on the critical field of seismic resistance for reinforced concrete structures. Under the mentorship of BSTU professors, the study explores how modern buildings withstand the world's most destructive forces. Key research areas include:

  • Seismic Resilience: Evaluating the performance of reinforced concrete frame buildings under extreme earthquake conditions.
  • Dynamic Load Analysis: Studying special load combinations and the impact of destructive seismic waves on structural integrity.
  • Durability Testing: Analyzing the carrying capacity of structures when subjected to repeated, alternating seismic-type stresses
A Hub for Innovation

Beyond technical research, the program offers a deep dive into BSTU organizational excellence and its long-standing history as a leader in industrial and forest engineering. This collaboration highlights the role of BSTU as an international center for specialized expertise, attracting top-tier scholars to solve modern infrastructure challenges.

By combining the academic strengths of both universities, this internship aims to foster safer construction standards and more resilient urban landscapes in seismically active regions.
