BSTU hosted III International Youth Environmental Educational Forum of the Union State
May 21, 2024, on the basis of the educational institution “Belarusian State Technological University”, the opening of the III International Youth Environmental Educational Forum of the Union State took place, in which more than 40 representatives of 13 universities of Belarus and Russia took part.
The choice of BSTU as the venue for the forum was not random. The university is the leading and one of the country's oldest universities in the field of forestry and environmental management. Since the early 70s of the twentieth century, the university has been training engineers in the field of industrial ecology and bio-ecology. Issues of rational environmental management, environmental protection, industrial ecology, processing of industrial waste, sustainable development, and carbon sequestration are among the priority areas of research for university scientists.
A special feature of the forum is that it is held on the territory of a natural site - the Negorelsky educational and experimental forestry enterprise, which is part of the university and is a unique educational, practical and scientific research center, on the basis of which a practice-oriented training model “University 3.0” has been implemented for students in a number of specialties of three faculties.
The busy program of the forum includes lectures by leading Belarusian scientists on current issues, practical exercises, acquaintance with educational and scientific objects of the Negorelsky educational and experimental forestry enterprise (Nature Museum of BSTU, “Ecological trail “Tales of the Negorelsky Forest”, botanical garden, natural object “Geographical Cultures”, a forestry equipment park, a forestry equipment museum, a woodworking shop, a mini-CHP using renewable bioresources), startup presentations, round tables, sporting events and field trips. Forum participants will be able to learn about the environmental educational and scientific programs of BSTU, communicate with leading scientists of the university, and meet their peers from other Belarusian and Russian universities.
The cultural and educational program of the forum includes a competition for the title “Best Hunter” on the basis of the electronic shooting range of the National Forestry Association, a visit to the Museum of the Great Patriotic War as part of the excursion “Minsk - a heroic city”, and a number of other events.
