Visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to BSMU

On the 17th of March, Belarusian State Medical University was visited by an honorary guest – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus Ashok Kumar. The meeting was held with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Yuri Sokolov, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasili Roudenok and Dean of the Medical Faculty for International Students, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Oleg Ishutin, which emphasizes the importance and significance of this visit.
During the meeting, Ashok Kumar was presented with the rich history and structure of the university, as well as with the key aspects of the educational, scientific and medical work of our university. There were discussed the issues related to the education of Indian students at the university, which added to the understanding of the specifics of medical education both in the Republic of Belarus and in India.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus highly appreciated the level of the educational process at BSMU and expressed readiness to support the development of cooperation between BSMU and medical universities of India on a long-term contractual basis. During the discussion, the main areas of inter-university cooperation were identified, including academic mobility of lecturers and students, holding joint scientific and practical conferences, implementing scientific projects and other forms of cooperation of mutual interest.
After the official part of the visit, the distinguished guests and the university administration took part in the traditional Indian Holi festival, organized at BSMU with the support of Milemir LLC. This event symbolized not only cultural interaction, but also the strengthening of friendly ties between the two countries.
Ashok Kumar’s visit was an important step towards maintaining and strengthening of international cooperation between BSMU and India, opening new horizons for students and lecturers. The University looks forward to further joint initiatives and projects that will benefit both Belarusian and Indian students.
