Zimbabwe intends to adopt the experience of Belarus in the field of medical education

The delegation of the Ministry of Health and Child Protection of the Republic of Zimbabwe was recently met at Belarusian State Medical University. It included the Head of the Ministry Dr. Douglas Tendai Mombeshora, Permanent Secretary for Health Dr. Aspect Yakov Maunganidze, as well as the Head of the diplomatic Mission of Zimbabwe in Belarus, Ishnatius Graham Mudzimba, and embassy staff.

The guests were received by Rector of the leading medical University of Belarus, Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Sergey Rubnikovich, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Vasili Roudenok, Deputy Minister of Health Boris Androsiuk, representatives of the Ministries of Education and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.

The negotiations began with the presentation of Belarusian State Medical University, which was conducted by Sergey Rubnikovich.

-We hope to learn fr om your experience in the field of health protection, including in the field of medical education. And we are interested in both pre–graduate and postgraduate education, -Dr. Douglas Tendai Mombeshora emphasized in his response speech. – Zimbabwe has a long way to go to improve its own health care, including in the field of maternal and child health. By 2028, our state intends to double the number of medical staff. That is why we are looking for opportunities for Zimbabwean citizens to receive higher medical education, and BSMU is considered one of the promising partners in this regard. With the support of the leading medical institution of higher education in Belarus, we also want to improve our medical education system.

According to the Minister of Health and Child Protection Douglas Tendai Mombeshora, representatives of the health of the Republic of Zimbabwe are also interested in scientific research of their Belarusian colleagues, simulation training (it does not exist in this African state in principle. – ed.), issues of diagnosis of diseases, etc.

...According to tradition, promotional materials about BSMU were presented to the guests, as well as memorable gifts. After that, a sightseeing tour of the university was organized for colleagues from Zimbabwe with a visit to the Simulation and Certification center, wh ere they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the simulation training of future doctors.

At the end of the meeting the negotiators agreed to continue cooperation in order to bring it to the proper level.
