Education in Belarus

Belarus's educational potential lies in its combination of accessibility, high quality, international integration, and innovative approach, making it attractive to foreign students and partners.

The Republic of Belarus has 46 higher education institutions where foreign students from 124 countries study (data as of January 1, 2025).

Belarus is among the countries with a very high Human Development Index. The adult literacy rate in Belarus has always been one of the highest in the world, reaching 99.7%. The coverage of basic, general secondary, and vocational education comprises 98% of the country's residents. In recent years, Belarus has effectively transitioned to compulsory general secondary education.

The education system of the Republic of Belarus provides education for students at the levels of basic, supplementary, and special education. Basic education includes the levels of preschool, general secondary, vocational-technical, secondary specialized, higher, and postgraduate education.

Each year, Belarusian higher education institutions open their doors to numerous students. Today, admission to Belarusian universities is accessible to everyone, including foreign applicants.
